  49.           "He is reverent toward God.
  50.           He is faithful in his religious duties.
  51.           He respects the beliefs of others."*

  53.                Scouts and Scouters of many different faiths are asked to
  54.           give invocations, graces, and other spiritual contributions
  55.           during Scouting events.  These people have promised to "be
  56.           faithful in their religious duties. "Accordingly, they will offer
  57.           prayer in the manner that they have been taught in their families
  58.           and by their religious teachers.  We honor the Scout Law by
  59.           respecting their religious beliefs, knowing that they in turn
  60.           will show the same respect for our beliefs in matters of custom
  61.           and religion.

  286.           I. The Scout Oath

  288.           Leader:   Our honor is a quality we possess because of our
  289.                     dignity as human beings and children of God.  Our
  290.                     'best' means to give all we have.  It means to keep
  291.                     striving to do what we know is right, and in the Oath
  292.                     it means we will try to be good Scouts by fulfilling
  293.                     our Scout duties as expressed in the Scout Law.

  295.           People:   ON MY HONOR I WILL DO MY BEST

  297.           Leader:   Our duty to God and country means chiefly two things:
  298.                     obedience and loyalty.  The duties we owe to God, to

  302.                     without which he cannot be a good Scout.

  310.                     human charity or love prompts us to want to help others
  311.                     at all times.  Our Scout training will give us skills
  312.                     and knowledge that will put us in a better position to
  313.                     do this.

  607.           when he is weak and brave enough to face himself when he is
  608.           afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and
  609.           humble and gentle in victory...
  610.                Build me a Scout whose wishes will not take the place of
  611.           deeds; a Scout who himself is the foundation stone of
  612.           knowledge...
